I can name a few times in my life where I have felt like I was drowning at rock bottom.... I can honestly say that at these times the people that have held me tight, patiently waited, soothed my weariness and gifted me with hope have been people like Wayne Dyer. There are many others but today I have CHOSEN to write this blog in tribute to Wayne Dyer. A gracious and wise man who in speaking his truth has led me (and many others I'm sure) to my defining moments.

Caution - you may want to sit up straight before reading this post!
WHAT IS “POOR POSTURE”? While some recent studies have questioned whether posture really matters, I will say from an osteopathic perspective- yes, it does! Posture doesn’t cause pain but the effects of poor posture, especially over a long period of time, can. How many of you have kids that are ‘fussy eaters’. You spend hours every week lamenting the foods you’ve cooked that they just won’t try…….
I do! But if your house is like mine, most of the meals cooked are foods that WE (as the ever powerful parents) like. Not too many meals get served up in my house that require me to try a new food that I’m not comfortable with. And I certainly don’t ever serve myself a food that I ‘don’t like’ (although I have a lot shorter list of foods I don’t like than my kids do!). Once upon a time when life wasn’t so hectic, I imagine that we were all much more in tune with our bodies. We listened to it’s signals. We knew instinctively what our body was trying to tell us. When we got sick, we stopped and let our bodies recuperate. For most people, that’s not the case anymore!
Let me give you a prime example. Our ancient (and even not so ancient) ancestors spent a lot of time preparing and sourcing food for meals, but for some reason in the 21st century the general consensus is that food is something to be hastily brought, hastily prepared, and hastily eaten. The easier it is to access, and the quicker it is to prepare, the better. And if we can somehow consume it on the run - well, that’s the perfect trifecta right there!
Depending on how much you know about probiotics I may, or may not, be about to rock your world….!
We have ummmed and aaahed about writing this blog all week, purely because we don’t want our message to be misinterpreted.
So before we go any further let us clarify one very important fact….WE ARE NOT ANTI-VACCINE, nor are we PRO-VACCINE. We are PRO-CHOICE. What is it you want from life? Maybe a new car, maybe to win tattslotto maybe an intimate partner? For some of us the list is probably endless. If we were to have a look at our desires a little closer could it be that the things we crave and yearn for are all the symptom of wanting to be happy! We think that that new car will bring us happiness or that relationship will fill our need to be loved and again feel happy.
You know when you buy a pet for the first time and you religiously google what it can and can’t eat?
For example - here’s what you might find if you were to google what to feed your new pet dog: There’s a reason they call it the Silly Season. The festive period turns rational level headed adults into crazed gift buying machines, and it’s the time of year when any child old enough to write suddenly has the ability to write a Christmas list worthy of winning a Booker Prize.
We’ll get back to the list making later, but for now, let’s stop and think about the commercialisation of Christmas…… |
